Welcome to CISCO Cybersecurity Essentials at Wirral Met. As the demand for security professionals continues to grow, this course will help develop a wide range of core skills to help you progress into roles and further study within cybersecurity. Accredited by CISCO, a global leader in network technologies, this programme will develop your understanding of cybercrime, networks, security principles, and much more.
Course Details
This part-time, Level 2 course will equip you with vast knowledge in the areas of security controls, procedures, networks and technologies. It will also develop your critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Areas covered within this course include: - Procedures to implement data confidentiality, integrity and security controls on networks, applications and servers - How to develop security policies that comply with cybersecurity laws - Understanding security principles - Malware, malicious code and attacks - Defending systems, incident response and disaster recovery

This is an evening course running for 3 hours per week over 15 weeks. This course is starting in January 2025.
Entry Guidelines


To study a Level 2 qualification, you will need:

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3, including English and Maths (or L1  Functional Skills in English and Maths)
                                     OR
A relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above (or L1 Functional Skills in English and Maths)

Satisfactory interview and/or assessment

Assessment Method
This course is assessed throughout with assessments, practical and theoretical exercises.
